first thing i do is i load a vsti.
i use miroslav philharmonik.
because it has some decent sounding strings.

next step is to open the piano roll view
and start to build the chords and chord pattern.

i use A as the root note of my first chord.

i just need to find a working combination of notes
to create the chords and i trust my ears to
determine what notes sound good together.

next,i copy and paste the chord i just created
and tweak it to create another chord
and this is how the chord pattern starts
   to slowly form.

it takes a while to find a working combination
of chords if you don't know the music theory-
   like me.
i just play by my ears.

okay.
after testing a different kind of note
 combinations for a while,
i found a working basic combination of chords
and was able to build a 8 bars long chord pattern.

this is how it sounds as in whole.

ok.
now i load another vsti and find some nice sound
that fits to the strings sound and start
to build a melody pattern that supports the
strings chord pattern i just created.

again,i use miroslav philharmonik and
i choose the oboe instrument from the library.

after testing various combinations of notes,
i came up an oboe melody that works
 with the strings chord pattern.

here's how the oboe melody pattern sounds
 with the strings chord pattern.

next, i add a third vsti
and create a bassline that supports the
strings chord pattern and oboe melody pattern.

what i do now is i copy the root notes
of the strings chord pattern and
paste them to my bass instrument track.
this'll speed up the process of creating a
bassline that supports the strings chord pattern
  and oboe melody pattern.

after pasting the root notes to a bass
 instrument track,
i transpose the whole thing up by one octave.

now i simply create a bassline based on the root
notes of the strings chord pattern.
i try to make it bit more "rhythmaic" by using
 different lengths of notes.

okay, after a little mouse-work,
i got the bassline done.

i accidentally pressed the stop button of my
 screen recorder here lol,
but what i did was i just added in a basic
 drum pattern using kickdrum,
snare and hihat.

i also edited the oboe melody pattern a little
as i wasn't totally satisfied with it.

here's how the drum pattern sounds.

and here's how they all sound together.

allright.
what i just created here is the chorus of
my song(or the "hook" as they call it)
based on a strings chord pattern.
the strings chord pattern was the starting
point for how i created the other
  instrument melodies.

what i usually do next at this point is
that i move the whole chorus composition
away in the FL Studio Playlist-line
to make a room for the intro and first
    verse of my song.

at this point i start to build the intro and
 first verse.

this is a great and easy way to start building
 a song because,
as the chorus is already done(and chorus is
usually the "heart" of a song),
i now have a slight clue on how the intro
and verses should be done in melodic wise.
the chorus sort of determines the nature of the
whole song and gives a line of direction how
the other part of the song should sound like.

at intro,
i try to give musically a slight clue
 what is on the way.
it could be a melody which accompanies the chorus.

verses are something i usually try to make
"less interesting" than the chorus(but not boring)
so that the chorus really stands out.
that usually means less musical elements and
 sounds and simpler melody patterns.

chorus really need to make an impact to the listener.
in first verse i just build up the tension
 towards the chorus.
i see intro and verses like a path that leads
to chorus and chorus is the price:

also, while making a song,
i'm always listening to it as in WHOLE-
that's very important and helps me to hear
what kind of changes i need to do.
EVEEYTHING in the song must fit to the style
and support the song as in whole-
melodic wise and production wise.

that means listening the song countless of times,
 over and over again.
it's essential to get the big picture.
